The New Zealand Department of Corrections only shares the location of a prisoner in certain circumstances. To request this information, you need to:

Steps to Locate a Person in Prison
The Department of Corrections provides an online form which should be completed. You will need to supply specific information, including:
- Full name of the person you are trying to locate and other names they may be known by
- Their date of birth (if known)
- Explain Your Reason for the Request
- You may also choose to add a message for the prisoner
The Department of Corrections will review your request. If your request is approved, they will provide you with the prison where the person is currently located.
